Junior Herdsman Award
Guidelines & Expectations for the Junior Herdsman Award
1. Children must be nominated for the award with parents consent, be aged between 5 and 18 years of age and be a local entrant
2. Must be prepared to show the heifer in the following years at the Alice Springs Show and other shoes if possible.
3. Previous entrants are eligible to enter.
4. Must be able to accommodate the heifer with land, feed, water, transportation and animal health as outline by the Livestock Welfare and Transporting Laws and NLIS Requirements
5. This award should be considered as a long term commitment and should not be exchanged for cash while productive. (may be passed on to another person if situation changes and cannot care for animal)
6. Must understand the value of the animal and appreciate the effort required to earn the prize
7. Must recognize and promote the breeder of heifer in all opportunities
8. Be prepared to liaise with breeder in future years on the animals performance etc.
9. A thank you letter to the donor of the heifer is expected
10. Annual updates on the heifers progress (particularly in the first 3 years) to the CBBA would be appreciated for promotional material of future prizes. Simple email and photos would suffice.
11. Judges decision is final (No correspondence will be entered into competition)
